Amiens cathedral

The nave and chancel. It's almost 140 feet from floor to ceiling.

The pipe organ (1442). We were lucky enough to be there while the organist put on a little recital that included Bach's Tocatta and Fugue in D minor. It was an incredible experience. One man was sitting in the nave with his head in his hands. I think he was either crying or praying. Or maybe both.

One of the beautiful rose windows.

The North rose window.

Windows in the chevet (East end).

The choir, looking towards the ambulatory.

The South aisle, looking west.

An effigy of one of the cathedral's founding bishops, Geoffroy d'Eu. The sense of light and space in the nave is amazing.
